Merf Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 27, 2026. Applies to Merf 1.0 for Mac.

Merf is a Mac utility for viewing and capturing notes, images, and files. The current version has no Merf account, advertising, analytics SDKs, or developer-operated cloud service.

Files and notes

Merf reads the collection folder you choose and saves captured notes, copied files, and images there. Your files remain ordinary files. Merf stores preferences, unfinished note drafts, folder authorization, and your selected scrap locally on your Mac.

Clipboard and selected text

Merf reads clipboard content when you request capture or paste. If you turn on automatic clipboard paste, opening a new empty text note can read the clipboard. This option is off by default. Merf receives selected text when you invoke Send to Merf through macOS Services. Merf does not continuously monitor clipboard content.

Sharing and cloud folders

Merf does not send your scraps to a developer-operated server. Opening, copying, or dragging a file into another application shares it according to the action you take. If you choose a folder managed by a cloud provider, that provider may synchronize the folder under its own terms and privacy policy. Merf 1.0 has no built-in cross-device synchronization.

Apple services

Purchases, App Store distribution, and any platform diagnostics are handled by Apple under Apple's applicable terms and privacy practices. Merf does not process payment card details.

Your choices

You may disable automatic clipboard paste in Settings, discard an unfinished draft in Merf, and manage or delete your saved scraps through Finder. Removing the app does not automatically delete files in your collection folder.

Support

For privacy questions, contact support@getmerfapp.com. Information you voluntarily send for support may be used to respond to your request. Do not send sensitive scraps unless necessary to explain the issue.

We will update this policy if our data practices change. The effective date above identifies the latest revision.
